Today we no longer worry about aggression while at the beach, at parks or on hiking trails.

About a year ago we came to Mela with our one year old Ridgeback mix, named Viggo. In the past he was very anxious and scared of everything. Because of that our biggest concern was, that he had even shown aggression towards strangers. After the first few incidences we knew we needed training and began looking around. Unfortunately a lot of recommendations were for obedience or dominance training with the use of e-collars. Of course we were very hesitant to use aversive punishment for him, because he was already so fearful. Additionally punishment-approaches did not mirror our values. Especially because I come from a behavioral science background and knew there must be a better way!
Besides of his fear aggression we also wanted to work on better leash skills, off-leash training and recall, because another concerns was Viggo’s unstoppable hunting instinct. Due to that we were impressed of the Worst Case Stop. Aggressive Dog Training Honolulu
During the whole program Mela worked closely with us to improve our communication and to reflect our mindset.
During the process her focus is on building up trust in us and our dog. Furthermore she helped us navigate some tricky moments, when we wanted to give up. But happily we didn’t and now we have a relationship based and mutual trust and respect with our dog.
After all the struggle our dog stopped hunting other animals and no longer lunges at strangers. Today we enjoy off leash walks and hikes together. While at the beach, at parks or on hiking trails, we no longer worry about aggression. We also made it back to meet friends at restaurants and other busy areas. On top of that we were even ready for another dog and found Loki, a Labrador mix.
Most importantly we now have the knowledge to build that companionship and trust that’s needed to have a dog be part of the family!Aggressive Dog Training Honolulu
